Visit from Deputy Mayor of Belfast

12th Jun 2020

On Thursday 11th June we were delighted to receive a visit from Paul McCusker, the newly appointed Deputy Mayor of Belfast. Paul was out and about in the local area and wanted to call into Our Lady's to say thank you to the staff and everyone associated with the school for their hard work during Covid 19. Paul wore his chain with pride and gathered with the staff and had an informal chat over lunch. He later told us that this was his first official lunch! If we had known that we would have had the china cups and saucers out!

Paul was interested to hear about our worries, the challenges we have now and those we foresee for the next academic year. He spoke about his schooldays, his work with the soup kitchen and the homeless, and his mission for his year in office. His enthusiasm and dedication to the city of Belfast and our local area was evident and we wish him every success for the year ahead.

He made a special point of thanking everyone for their great work in the last challenging weeks and we really appreciated his kind words.

We also had the opportunity to thank Paul for his help. He has been working behind the scenes, helping us with a few issues over the last twelve weeks and we are very grateful for that.

We hope Paul won't be a stranger to Our Lady's this year and we look forward to the day when we can shake hands with him and have another lunch- without social distancing.
